Charitable Activities

It is really immodest to speak about our charitable activities. But at the same time, not to speak about them is false modesty, as all the Russian-speaking community of Atlanta knows what has been done by Atlanta Institute of Medicine and Rehabilitation. We are a reputable organization that really deserves recognition. We have participated in a lot of public charities and activities, and we are proud of it.

Charities were a part of the initial idea for the Center. We do not want to speak about sympathy; we want to speak about help. One of founders of the Russian-American Federation and nowadays one of its most active members, Doctor Lawrence Eppelbaum, considers charity to be his duty.

It was Dr. Eppelbaum who came up with the initiative to start the School for Children where they can study Russian. Dr. Eppelbaum has insisted that the school function on a free-of-charge basis as "the youngest family branch of Atlanta Institute of Medicine and Rehabilitation." Dr. Eppelbaum and the Center sponsor practically all the projects and programs started and developed by the Russian-American Federation in Atlanta. The Center - and Dr. Eppelbaum personally - provide support for and sponsor the Atlanta Branch of the American Association of Jews, and the Atlanta Association of Veterans from the Former USSR and Countries of Eastern Europe. Each year Dr. Eppelbaum provides a personal financial contribution to Atlanta veterans celebrating Victory Day. Dr. Eppelbaum thinks that Victory Day is an opportunity to express his gratitude to the veterans not just in words.
